What can you do to find out if we have a particular LEGO part?

Firstly the more information we get the easier it is to find it in our LEGO inventory.. sending us an email with " I need a part that loooks flat and red with a litle curly bit at the end" dosent help..

here are some pointers:

Set number: This is the number of the actual set and will help alot and is always located on the front of the box or instructions.

Part number: In the back of the instruction booklet or occasionaly on the side of the box there is a list of the pieces in the set under each picture is a number.
